Switching to Emprise?
Switching your account(s) to Emprise Bank is easier than you might think. You don't even have to visit your old bank! Just follow the simple steps below, and we'll take care of the rest.
- Open an Emprise Checking Account online or at any branch location.
- Complete your authorization(s) to transfer any Automatic Payments or Direct Deposits from your old account to your new Emprise Account.
- Close your old account*.
It's that simple! Once your new account is open, here are the forms you will need. Print 'em up, fill 'em out, mail 'em. Or if you prefer, just bring us all your information and we'll fill out the forms for you!
*If you've decided to make a switch, stop using your old account now. But be sure to balance your account and leave enough money to cover any outstanding checks, debit card purchases or automatic payments. And allow enough time for all outstanding items to clear - usually around 10 business days.
Account Switch Forms
Account Closure Letter (You'll definitely need one of these!) Use this form to notify your old bank of the account(s) you are closing. It gives them directions on what to do with any remaining funds.
Automatic Payment Change Request (You may need one or more of these) If you make Automatic Payments from your account, you will need this form to send to each vendor, instructing them to transfer their automatic payments from your old account to your new Emprise account. (Each Automatic Payment requires a separate form -- print as many as you need.)
Direct Deposit Sign Up Form (You may need one or more of these) If you have money direct deposited into your account from the U.S. Treasury; you will need this form to change your direct deposit from your old account to your new Emprise account. (Each Direct Deposit will require a separate form -- print as many as you need.)
Direct Deposit Change Request (You may need one or more of these) If you have money direct deposited into your account from another source; you will need this form to change your direct deposit from your old account to your new Emprise account. (Each Direct Deposit will require a separate form -- print as many as you need.)

Q. Where do I find the "Routing Number"?
A. The "Routing Number" is the first set of numbers listed on the bottom left-hand corner of your checks; it consists of 9 numbers.
Q. Where do I find my "Account Number"?
A. Your "Account Number" is printed just to the right of the routing number (in some cases, the check number may appear after your Account Number)

Q. What should I do with unused checks or deposit slips from my old bank?
A. Bring them with you to any Emprise branch. We'll recycle them.
Q. What about my old bank's ATM or debit cards?
A. Cut them up. It's important that old cards be destroyed.
Q. What about free checking?
A. We offer free checking, isn't it great!? Plus we have other checking options you might like even better depending on your situation.
Q. Won't it be a hassle to switch my direct deposits and automatic payments?
A. Doesn't have to be. Just use the information forms, it's easy. We will even fill them out for you.
