Amateur & intermediate photographers captured the essence of Kansas and Rose Hill in the 2017 Rose Hill Fall Festival Photography Contest.

“We are very excited about the number of entries that we received, especially in the youth and teen category,” said Aubry Dieter, an Emprise Bank branch manager. “It is amazing to see these young people have an interest in this great art. I know the judges had a hard time deciding as there was a lot of tough competition and some really beautiful pieces entered. We are very thankful for all who entered the contest, and we appreciate that they shared their talents with us and those at the Fall Festival.  We hope to see them return again next year!”

The entry deadline was in early October, and photographers fell into four categories: age 12 and under, age 13-18 years, ages 18+, and the all-ages “Spirit of Rose Hill” category. Three monetary prizes were awarded in all categories for first place ($50), second place ($25), and third place ($10).

All entries were displayed in an art show that ran from October 13-15 at the Rose Hill Fall Festival, and the winning photos will be displayed at the Rose Hill Emprise Bank branch through mid-November.

The contest was co-sponsored by Emprise Bank and the Rose Hill Chamber of Commerce. Contest judges included Kim Vannurden of Creative Reflections Photography, and Kailee Thornburg of Kailee A. Artistry.
