Personal Finance will run in Internet Explorer, however, like most applications today, it was written for Chrome and Firefox. If the page alignment looks “off,” try accessing Personal Finance in Chrome or Firefox.
Depending on the number of accounts you have and the related history, this can take a few minutes when you enroll; 90 days of history are typically loaded. Once the history has finished loading, subsequent updates consist of new information only and will typically take less time.
The financial institution logos on this page represent some of the more commonly requested external account providers. To locate your external financial institution, you can simply type the name into the search box – it will usually autofill. If this isn’t successful, copy the Login Page URL directly from the financial institution site into the search box. Once your financial institution is located and added, the logo will normally appear beside the account on your accounts page.
The financial institution that you’re trying to add doesn’t recognize the aggregator (Personal Finance) requesting your account information (just like when you log in for the first time on a new or different device). To ensure security, it will require “step-up” authentication which can include the code from a text message or answers to personal security questions.
Depending on the financial institution, this may be an aggregation / third party security requirement on their part. This is not unusual.
There may be brief interruptions to service on occasion. The financial institution might be down or the aggregator might have an issue. This usually corrects itself quickly.
There may be an issue with the aggregator that is currently trying to pull the data from the financial institution. This is an issue that should be reported. Please contact Personal Finance Support.
This is a design feature to ensure financial data security. The description of the account type will be displayed (the account type, NOT a personal “nickname”).
When transactions are initially passed into Personal Finance from Online Banking, categories are assigned based on complex business logic. Individuals apply terms based on their personal expectations or contexts. Categories can be updated at any time. Once the category has been modified, it will apply to future transactions matching that same logic. Categorization is a critical component to the accuracy of all features within Personal Finance so, it is something that the user should focus refining initially, and ongoing as changes in lifestyle of financial situations occur.
Categories established in Online Banking do not get pulled into Personal Finance, so they will not sync. The categories in Personal Finance tie into Budget and Spending features and related calculations.
This format assists when analyzing spending trends. The page is sortable by columns. If you wish to see transaction history for a single account, you can click on it from the Accounts tab.
Same-day transactions do not update immediately within Personal Finance. Updates are pushed numerous times during the business day, so, you might not see it until the next one.
Balances for external accounts are only updated once after nightly processing. Any same-day transactions will not display or affect balances until the following business day.
